Holistic hair regeneration is key to a more confident, beautiful, and healthier you. My name is LaJoya Roy, Founder, and CEO of Lajewel Hair Restoration—a space dedicated to providing quality treatment for those suffering from hair loss and scalp conditions. As a Certified Trichologist and a heart to serve, I’m here to walk you through your hair journey.

I was born in Michigan, surrounded by hair culture, and raised by a cosmetologist. As a little girl, my mother educated me on the science of hair, how to retain growth and proper hair maintenance. The seeds planted in me as a child blossomed into a 30-year cosmetology career. As a hair care professional, I noticed countless clients struggling with hair loss. I tried several hair conditioners and thickening products, and nothing was effective. After attending an informative hair conference and being introduced to Trichology, my life was changed forever. I enrolled in USTI, graduated as a Certified Trichologist, and studied at the World Trichology Society. And while I love learning and expanding my knowledge in the hair industry, my true mission is to empower you to live your best life.

Reasons to See a Trichologist

When you visit a trichologist, you can expect a thorough examination of your hair and scalp, medical history, nutrition, lifestyle, and hair care routine. Your answers can help the trichologist determine how to treat you and come up with the best plan of care.

What to Expect at the Trichologist

Dermatology is a medical branch of medicine that specializes in diagnosis, treatment of the skin, hair and nail conditions. Dermatologists practice medicine. They are trained to prescribe for the symptoms.

Trichology is a holistic approach to restoring hair and healing scalp disorders naturally. Trichologists focus on the entire body. We examine your physical, emotional, spiritual well-being. Your body has to be balanced in order to restore your hair and scalp. Some cases there are many factors that contribute to hair loss and we have to find the missing link to solve the problem.

How is a trichologist different from a dermatologist?

Here are a few comparisons to Trichology vs Dermatology:

You can visit your trichologist more often than your dermatologist

Some trichologists, not all, are licensed cosmetologists
that have experience in scalp and hair care

Some trichologists are medical doctors
that have a certification in trichology

Trichologists can provide care that is non-medical treatments,
such as supplements, lifestyle changes, dietary suggestions,
hair and scalp care, and non-invasive treatments

Insurance can cover the cost of Dermatology care. Insurance companies cover steroid injections, shampoos and steroid ointments

Unfortunately, Trichology is not covered by insurance companies.
The medical field does not consider hair loss as a health problem.
Although it can be a detriment for the mental health of the client.
